As one of the region’s first providers of hazardous waste treatment and disposal services, MAX maintains a tradition of safe, secure and reliable hazardous waste management for industry and government. Our Yukon plant is the only facility in Pennsylvania that offers RCRA Subtitle C permitted hazardous waste treatment and on-site commercial disposal of residual waste. MAX’s treatment storage and disposal facility (TSDF) is permitted to accept a wide range of materials from energy, construction, and manufacturing industries, as well as from hazardous waste site cleanups. Our operations and facilities maintain an excellent record of compliance, and our seasoned staff has a long history of safe, reliable and responsive service.
Among our hazardous waste services:
MAX is a leader of contaminated soil remediation, including in-situ treatment, excavation, transportation and off-site treatment and disposal. We offer special expertise in treating metal contaminated industrial, including chrome ore processing residue and chromate waste.
MAX uses our Solid Waste Stabilization and Solidification (SWSS) system to treat high volumes of soils, sludges and debris delivered in bulk or container for physical and/or chemical treatment. MAX’s employees are highly experienced in waste solidification and stabilization, and are available to perform these services on your project site as well as at our facility.
Our RCRA-permitted Containment and Processing Building (CAPB) uses mixing treatment technology in a controlled environment to effectively treat electric arc furnace (EAF) dust and other dusts and solids. The CAPB is equipped with a negative air pressure system, pneumatic loading and specialized containment to ensure safe and compliant processing.
Following treatment at our Yukon TSDF, waste rendered non-hazardous may be disposed of in our commercial on-site landfill. We routinely treat EAF dust in accordance with our de-listing procedures approved by PADEP to allow for disposal as residual waste.
In addition to treating waste dusts, our CAPB processes hazardous solids to meet specifications for proper treatment and disposal, as well as to segregate reclaimable materials. Our staff is experienced in operating crushing and screening equipment on project sites as well as at our facility.
MAX’s Bulger facility holds the state’s only Phase I approval for a Subtitle C hazardous waste landfill and MAX’s Yukon landfill was designed to meet RCRA Subtitle C standards, so we are uniquely positioned to support our customers in constructing and maintaining on-site hazardous and residual waste landfills.
