RCRA Waste That MAX Handles

MAX’s extensive array of hazardous waste transportation, storage and disposal services includes:

Part B Permitted Facility – MAX’s Yukon, PA facility (EPA ID#004835146) operates under a Part B Permit of the Federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), which meets or exceeds all federal and state regulatory requirements.  It also meets the requirements under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) to accept hazardous waste from Superfund sites, and PA Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act (HSCA) waste.  MAX is permitted to handle a wide range of EPA waste codes.

Hazardous soils and solids treatment – MAX is a leader in contaminated soil remediation, including in-situ treatment, excavation, transportation and off-site treatment and disposal.  The Solid Waste Stabilization and Solidification System at our Yukon facility has capacity to treat over 1,000 tons of soils and sludges per day.  The Containment and Processing (CAP) System will be able to treat an additional 400 tons per shift.  These systems will provide the flexibility to manage intermediate and large projects, and regularly-generated waste.  MAX’s treatment system is designed to handle wastes which may contain debris or other impacted materials. Over the past 15 years, MAX has become a leader in treatment and disposal of difficult-to-treat Chrome Ore Processing Residue (COPR), and of other RCRA Wastes.

The Containment and Processing (CAP) System – The CAP System will use mixing treatment technology in a controlled environment to effectively treat K061 EAFD, and other dusts and solids.  MAX’s Containment Storage Building will manage any dusting during unloading, treatment or other operations through the use of a negative air pressure system.  MAX will pneumatically load the treatment units, and the proper blend of treatment chemicals will be added.  After the waste undergoes treatment, it will be loaded into roll-off containers to await confirmatory analysis.  The treated residues will be disposed in accordance with all applicable regulations.

Solid Waste Stabilization and Solidification (SWSS) System  – Pronounced “Swiss,” this three-unit, in-ground system for solids treatment is designed to handle large volumes hazardous soils, sludges and debris.  Each treatment unit has a permitted capacity of 133 cubic yards, and can accept waste shipments in either bulk or drums.  It is here that the waste undergoes physical and chemical treatment to render it non-hazardous.  After treatment, the waste is stored in roll-off containers in the permitted storage areas.  Samples of waste undergo final laboratory analysis to confirm that it complies with the universal treatment standards and is ready for disposal in one of MAX’s secure disposal options.

Hazardous Liquids Treatment – MAX’s treatment methods render all hazardous liquids or sludges to a non-hazardous form prior to disposal.

Waste Collection and Consolidation – MAX designs and constructs waste collection and consolidation systems, which provide efficiency and cost savings.  Designed to fit your company’s operational requirements, waste consolidation services evaluate the logistics and costs of moving one waste stream, or multiple waste streams, to a single location.  MAX’s  experienced project team will work with your company’s staff in meeting the permit or management information system (MIS) requirements.

MAX provides the logistics to minimize the transportation storage and disposal costs.  Furthermore, each truck is loaded to its optimal weight, assuring you maximum safety and savings.

PCB Disposal – MAX will manage your PCB wastes, including:  soils, waters, oils, transformers, capacitors, cables, bushings/switches and ballasts.

Container & Drum Management Services – MAX provides total waste handling services for generators of hazardous and non-hazardous drummed waste, including liquid, solid and semi-solid materials.  The turnkey services include sampling, drum preparation, labeling, laboratory analysis, transportation, treatment and disposal, as well as handling all paperwork and administrative details.

Hazardous Waste Identification – MAX’s highly experienced lab technicians accurately identify hazardous wastes to ensure that each container can be safely handled, transported and managed environmentally.

Lab Chemical Disposal – MAX collects, labels and packages chemical laboratory wastes, and ensures that they are managed properly.
