Client: Phipps Conservatory
MAX was contracted by the Pittsburgh Parks and Recreation Department to excavate lead-impacted soil from the expansion project at the Phipps Conservatory. The work was conducted during two phases as the former greenhouses area. MAX personnel excavated and loaded over 2500 tons of soil.

Client: ALCOSAN
To meet new EPA requirements, ALCOSAN needed to expand their treatment capacity. New digesters were installed. The area selected required the removal of over 100,000 tons of soil for the multiple phases of the work. The soil was shipped to MAX's Bulger Facility for the beneficial use program saving the client landfill costs.

Client: Army Corps of Engineers
For the reconstruction of a Lock and Dam along the Monongahela River, the Army Corps of Engineers was required to install a stormwater retention and treatment system. The area for this was located in an area that was contaminated with residual waste. MAX accepted over 30,000 tons of soil at its Bulger Facility during the 4 month construction of the stormwater system.

MAX's Bulger Facility received over 10,000 tons of contaminated sand and gravel from a water intake system from this steel operation. On average, Bulger received over 50 trucks per day from the project.

Client: Pittsburgh School Board
The Pittsburgh School Board selected a site in Downtown adjacent to the Cultural District for the construction of a new high school for the performing arts. MAX was selected to provide residual waste disposal of nearly 20,000 tons of petroleum impacted soil from this site. The soil was shipped to MAX's Bulger Facility.
Follansbee, West Virginia
Client: Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation (WPSC)
As
a part of reconstruction of WPSC’s coke plant, MAX created an area for
the construction of a new warehouse. The project involved the
removal of 40,000 tons of by-product and the site clearing of an
additional 5 acres. The by-products were shipped to MAX’s
Bulger Facility as part of the Beneficial Use Program.
Removal work was completed in 3 weeks, with MAX loading more than 1,750 truckloads of material. During this project, the Bulger Facility received more than 100 trucks per day.

Client: Continental Building Systems, Equitable and Del Monte Buildings
To support the development along Pittsburgh's North Shore area, MAX provided transportation and residual waste disposal for these buildings. The projects involved the removal of nearly 30,000 tons of contaminated soil. The waste was shipped to MAX's Bulger facility for the beneficial use program.

MAX worked with Noralco, a Pittsburgh based excavation contractor, to dispose of over 6700 tons of historic fill. This site is being developed for a high rise condominium in the downtown area. The soil was shipped to MAX's Bulger facility in a two week period averaging over 30 truck loads per day during the project.
